Back on it

Back on the bike now! Its been a while and I have to take it easy but its so good to be riding. Got some shots with Mike Osborne a few days ago. . . .

I really like Mikes work, check out his site www.mikeophoto.co.uk and Blog.

I’ll be spending alot of time on the hardtail now getting my wrist back up to strength so thanks Schwalbe for the awsome Nobby Nics.

Dual is cool

The Dual Slalom race we had last weekend was awsome, a good turnout, a good laugh and a good startgate! Here is a video by John Burns, thanks to Dave Morgan for putting it on. Everyone had a great time and I can’t wait for the next one. Still no riding for me so here are some pics of the last week making the most of the good weather. Its been great catching up with friends and family while I have been injured, but I really cant wait to get racing again. . . hopefully not too much longer.

Killin’ time. . .

Have been keeping busy this last week. . . . Finished of building a start gate ready for a Dual Slalom race that my friend Dave Morgan has organised. Should be a fun day with some back to basics racing in a feild and a BBQ! I’ll let you know how it goes in next weeks post. Got the cross country bike sprused up a bit for when my wrist is ready to ride. Thanks to my sponsors for making it happen. Still making the most of the early summer we have down here on the Isle of Wight with fishing and chillin in Tom’s boat. Hopefully some more spearfishing soon if the water clears up. . .

Welcome!

Here we go, my first blog post on my new site. . .  I’ll be keeping you up to date with what I’m doing and how the races go so check back for regular posts. Here’s a bit of a re-cap of the last couple of months. . . Unfortunately at the first race of the season I had a silly crash in practice and broke my wrist. Not the best way to start a season, putting and end to all trips planned and made even more annoying when I found out I had been selected to race for the GB squad at 3 World Cup Rounds. I had dislocated my wrist, broke the scaphoid and crushed the nerve in the process. I spent a few nights in hospital and they put a pin and bone graft in to give it the best chance of recovery. Three weeks later I had another op to release the crushed nerve. Now nine weeks since the accident I have had the cast off but cannot ride because the slow healing scaphoid has not shown any signs of healing. In seven weeks it will be x rayed again and if it has started to heal I can start rehab but if not I may need more operations. So I am devastated about the injury but it has happened now and I am just looking forwards and thinking about getting fit as soon as possible. Luckily my friends and family have been great helping me out, and I have been keeping busy with. . . . . .Mackerel fishing, Golf (caddy), Spear fishing, Running, Holiday with Rachael, Sailing and lots of BBQs!
